To be fully-devoted followers of Jesus, God calls us all to give cheerfully. This is our opportunity to worship our Creator through our finances and acknowledge that He owns it all; and we are simply stewards of what He entrusts to us. The first is the “tithe” (the Hebrew word translates literally to mean “tenth”). When you give the first 10% of your income to the Lord through the church, you put God first, and the Bible says He blesses the rest! It’s the one area God invites you to test Him.

“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”—Malachi 3:10 NIV
